GLOBAL LASER ENRICHMENT

Exclusive worldwide licensee of the SILEX laser technology for uranium enrichment.

GLE was formed in 2007 to develop and commercialize laser-based uranium enrichment technology capability in the U.S., with over $400 million invested in GLE’s commercialization program to date.

Since its inception, GLE has worked closely with Silex Systems of Australia, the inventor of the laser enrichment process, to advance the SILEX laser enrichment technology towards commercial launch for uranium enrichment.

GLE is owned jointly by Silex Systems Limited (51%) and Cameco Corporation (49%)

Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to power a secure energy future. Cameco’s tier-one operations have the licensed capacity to produce more than 53 million pounds (100% basis) of uranium concentrates annually, backed by 457 million pounds (Cameco share) of proven and probable mineral reserves. They are also a leading supplier of uranium refining, conversion and fuel manufacturing services. Along with its significant investment in GLE, Cameco also has an ownership interest in Westinghouse Electric Company. Cameco’s land holdings, including exploration, span about 1.8 million acres of land, the majority near Cameco’s existing operations in northern Saskatchewan. Utilities around the world rely on Cameco to provide global nuclear fuel solutions for the generation of safe, reliable, carbon-free nuclear power.

Silex Systems Limited is an Australian technology company whose primary asset is the SILEX laser enrichment technology, invented and originally developed at the Company’s technology facility in Sydney, Australia. The SILEX technology has been under development for uranium enrichment jointly with US-based exclusive licensee GLE since 2006 in accordance with the Technology Commercialization and License Agreement, and under the SILEX Cooperation Treaty signed in 2000 by the Australian and US governments.
